A comprehensive look into the aspects of psychology that are obviously intertwined by the teachings of Islam, but which are easily overlooked by many people. This blog's purpose is to point out the undoubted connection the study of the human brain, mind, soul, and their envrionments have with the teaching of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah (actions and sayings) of the beloved prophet Muhammed (May God's Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him).

Notes Regarding Psychology...

Assalamwalaikum,

One other thing that I would like to add about psychology is that within the discipline, there are many different divisions and theories. As with other disciplines in science, some of these theories completely go against the Shari'eah, and therefore should be ignored and disregarded. (I.E. Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection in Biology) Some examples would be some of Sigmund Freud's theories. (By the way Freud was a cocaine addict.) Not to mention those theories are very whacked out in the first place. Anyways, when studying psychology, the theories and ideas should not shape they Muslims percieve certain things, such as life. Rather, Islamic Knowledge and ideas should be used as the basis for explaining theories. A great deal of disillusionment will occur if these theories are used as basis for understanding life, instead of using Qur'an and Sunnah for the basis of fullfilling life. The Qur'an is known as "Al-Furqaan"...which means The Criterion Between Right and Wrong. So true guidance must come directly from the Qur'an and the Sunnah.

Asalamu alaikum,

Hey bro this is Arif from Egypt. Subhanallah, I think that this is a beautiful initiative that you are undertaking. I have found the the study of Psychology is useful as a tool for calling others to the way of Allah. Ofcourse, like any other secular science not all theories of the science are congruent with the guidance from Allah. SUch theories are simply reflections of human beings while the guidance from teh Quran, is from Allah the most-knowledgeable. So, I thought that was a very important factor you mentioned alhumdulillah. However, the more practical (less abstract) theories of Psychology are effective tools in helping our fellow brothers. I am definetely looking forward to reading your posts and developing appropriate dialogue.

-Your brother.
