A comprehensive look into the aspects of psychology that are obviously intertwined by the teachings of Islam, but which are easily overlooked by many people. This blog's purpose is to point out the undoubted connection the study of the human brain, mind, soul, and their envrionments have with the teaching of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah (actions and sayings) of the beloved prophet Muhammed (May God's Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him).

A Few Things Regarding Marijuana...

Asssalamwalaikum,

As I mentioned previously about marijuana, it is sort of a taboo in the Muslim community. The fact of the matter is people are continuously using it, and not contemplating the repercussions that can occur due to the use of it. The essay below discussed the biological aspects of marijuana use, however there are definitely social consequences to the use as well, which I will talk about later insh'Allah in an actual post, rather than a side note like this one. There are some ignorant people who believe that if some one is using drugs, that everyone must stay away from them, pointelssly backbite about them, and seclude themselves in their own world. This is so far from an Islamic mentality that it is disgusting. However, there is an exception. The exception is that if there is a Muslim who was doing that stuff, and changes his ways, therefore for a short period he avoids certain people who will lead him to haraam activities. The reason for this is because whenever someone totally leaves the scene of drugs and parties and what not, it is VERY tempting for him to get sucked back in to that life. For this reason, in some cases, it is okay to avoid a drug-using individual, because of the possibility that that individual will influence you negatively. But for the Muslim brothers and sisters who are strong enough not to be infuenced by marijuana or any other intoxicant, it is your duty to help some one who uses or is addicted to drugs. Umu Faisal said it best one time...he said that suppose that a Muslim is hanging from a cliff, and you are nearby. Would you go and help him, knowing that he can die? Of course, you would, assuming that you are a moral person who values the life that Allah (SWT) has created. The same thing goes for a person who uses substances. A person who uses drugs is like someone that is hanging on for dear life, onto a cliff. If nobody helps him, then he will fall and die...now some people may not understand the connection between the two because they don't have foresight of the bigger picture. (Another very important topic I will cover in the future insh'Allah) Undoubtedly there is a connection between the two...the graveness of the two are equal. If you know any one who has a problem with drugs, or even if you do yourself, please contact me, or anyone that can truely help. Please don't hesitate, this could be a matter of life and death....or Heaven or Hell.

Jazakullah-khairun
